Windows Audio Problems

Ever had this problem in Windows, where you can't hear any sound & you get the following message...
There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, Go to Control Panel and Other Hardware, and then click ADD HARDWARE.

Solving it is quite simple, just go to the Start menu & select Run... then type in services.msc.

In the Window which then appears on screen, scroll down & find Windows Audio then click start.

Bizarre Code::Blocks Problem

I've been using Code::Blocks for a long time now & have never had any problems with it. But recently I started to receive the following error.
  • mingw32-g++.exe: no input files
I'd installed Code::Blocks & the MinGW Compiler seperately using the MinGW Automated Installer from here.

I noticed that whenever I attempted to compile a project the complete Compiler output was being displayed. So I checked the Compiler settings & noticed that the following option was being used.
  • -print-search-dirs
When I removed it, I could compile without any problems.

Invalid Server Certificate

Have you ever received the following error message.

"The certificate will not be valid until 27/03/2009 22:20."

Then you probably need to check your Time & Date Settings.

Corn Programming Language

I first encountered Corn in early 2006, I thought it was pretty good but I encountered problems with program compilation & execution. For some reason after placing the Corn bin folder on my PATH environment variable, Corn would complain that the installation directory was incorrect.

Last year I downloaded the newest version of Corn (v2.8.2) but after trying to compile a simple example with it...

corncmp -o hello.pack hello.corn

I received the following error...

exception of unknown class

I sent an E-Mail to the author of the language to see if he could help but he didn't seem that interested which was a shame.

Google App Engine

I've recently been messing around with the Windows version of the Google App Engine again. I successfully built & ran the helloworld application after I encountered a small error. On this page you are told to enter the following in a Command-Prompt...

google_appengine/dev_appserver.py helloworld/

However after entering it, I recieved the following error...

'google_appengine' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

This error can be solved simple by omitting the beginning of the earlier command & typing in the following.

dev_appserver.py helloworld/

ActivePerl Problems Solved

A few days ago I downloaded ActivePerl from here. After installing it I thought I would try running some simple programs but I kept getting an access denied error. After rebooting my system & viewing the Proactive Defense Summary in my Comodo Firewall, I discovered that Perl was now working fine.

Ubuntu 8.10 & PyOpenGL

After installing the new version of Ubuntu I discovered that PyOpenGL had stopped working. Apparently other people have encountered this problem too, here on the Ubuntu forum & here on the PyOpenGL mailing list.

Compiler Error

Recenly I compiled & ran a program in Linux. After I successfully compiled the program in Windows, I tried to run it. However it wouldn't work.

I kept receiving the following error number, -1073741571.

After typing "-1073741571" into Google, I found this post on a French programming forum.

Apparently the problem may be caused by some kind of 'overflow' error. The fact that the program uses recursion makes me feel that this may be right.
