John Carmack & OpenGL

Recently I discovered this post that John Carmack had made back in 1996, where he discusses the differences between OpenGL & Direct3D & concludes that OpenGL is a lot easier to use.

Apparently he still appears to think the same as when he was asked in this 2008 interview whether his new game would be using OpenGL or DirectX, he said...
It’s still OpenGL, although we obviously use a D3D-ish API [on the Xbox 360], and CG on the PS3.

DarkBASIC for Free

DarkBASIC Pro is now available for free & can be downloaded from here.

The only difference between this & the paid version is the appearance of a banner advert at the bottom of the IDE.

XNA Creators Club

I first messed about with XNA last year but I've recently joined the Creators Club, so I hope to do some XNA game coding in C#.

If you're interested in XNA you should visit this page as it will tell you everything you need to download.

SMPlayer Download

The SMPlayer is a media player that can also play files in the .nsv format. It does have a few problems like how if you use the DirectX video driver in Vista, the Aero interface is disabled. You can use the OpenGL video driver but it isn't accelerated.

You can download the SMPlayer from here.
